Overall I believe the performance went well especially with how this year has gone, i feel there is  a few things that need to be worked on for next time. To make it run smoother i think the microphones need to have a longer XLR cable because i was very restricted on were i could move too, i wanted to move around the stage more to make it more exciting and less boring but because of how tight the cable was i couldn't , this is something i need to make the production team aware of next time.

Throughout the whole song of 'Something about you' i found that because of my nerves i had sweaty hands which made it difficult to play. I think for next time i am going to try and stand up and play guitar, because even though sitting down made a change it was hard to find a stool, between now and the next performance i am going to work on playing standing up.

Midnight :

Midnight was the first song of my set. I feel it went well even though i was very nervous. When i walked onto the stage i wanted use the microphone off the stand however the XLR cable to the microphone was attached to the stand so i struggled to unclip it, i feel if this problem was resolved before i went on stage it would of made the process go a lot smoother.

I think another problem that i encounter was that i stayed in one place i did not moved around the stage very much, i feel like it made my performance boring to watch, i felt i made the audience become bored half way through my set because i was just standing in one place, i think this happend because i didn't have enough of the XLR Cable to work with so thats something that i need to make aware with the production team.

As i was coming out the bridge i realised that it wasn't as smooth as how i had rehearsed it, because i was coming out of a high note into a lower note, i knew this was going to be a struggle but i think because i was full of neves it didn't go to plan. Even though parts need to be improved for next time i still had good vocals i was given back from others that i my vocal range and songwriting skills have improved massively.

So Good Without You:

I had written this song last year. I was given good feedback that i have improved a lot since last year with this song , I am happy with how it went. I was worried in rehearsals that i would forget the lyrics because i haven't been over this song for a while so i was a little rusty however despite that i think it went very well.

Watching the performance back i found that i forgot the lyrics on at the start of the second verse i managed to save the song but i  repeating a line to not make it obvious , i also feel i need to add more power into some parts of the song.

Something About You:

I think my first ever guitar solo went well however i do still have things i need to work on for next time ,such as trying not make the guitar buzz, after the performance i asked the other performers that play guitar for some tips on how to reduce the buzzing which i was given good advise. The song went very well, i think that for a improvement next time i will stand up and play instead of siting down, it made change because everyone was standing up playing it made the whole performance a little more interesting and exciting however i feel i might enjoy it more standing up.

When it came to the bridge i forgot a cord but i stopped playing which i shouldn't of done because it gave a message to the audience that i had messed up they wouldn't of noticed if i didn't stop, i don't think it helped that i had sweaty hands from nerves. I also noticed that  when i am playing that i am looking down at my fingers which i was told i shouldn't  do, i need to look at the audience more when i play but i think that is something i need to improve for next time.

Some good feedback that i got from pears is that i had good vocals. Even thought i haven't been playing the guitar for very long singing and playing guitar was not something i could do 8 months ago so i am very happy with how my vocals went when playing guitar as it is still very new.

Control (by Zoe Wees):

This was a last minute change, i decided i wanted to do a cover to this song about a week before the performance as i was going to do 'easy on me' by Adel but the people i asked to help with it decided not to do it so i had to do my second option which i think was nicer than what i originally planned.

At the start of each verse ,it's in a  slightly lower key to the rest of the song so i found it hard to hit the low notes, in rehearsals we did try it in a higher key but it didn't sound the same as in the original key and we preferred the original key.

I really enjoyed performing this song i feel my vocals hit the notes well, i feel i projected all the lyrics well and put a lot of emotion into the song which made it sound better, however in the second the verse i jumbled up the lyrics, i used one of the lines in the first verse in the second verse. â€‹

So In To You:

One big problem i had was that i completely forgot the lyrics to the second verse so i had to improvise quickly and sing a line from the pre- chorus to make it not look like i forgot, i found it hard to get back on track i got very anxious so my vocals started to become rocky and off key but luckily Rob caught on to what i was doing so started to play the cords to the chorus and i started to sing the chorus twice instead of once.

She Is All I Wanna Be (By Tate McRae):

Like most of the songs i was just moving forward and backwards however i think this set went very well, i enjoyed this song a lot because i was in a proper band and not just having piano which made a good change to all my depressing songs. The night before i purchased  some in ear defender ear phones to stop my ears from getting damaged with how close i was to the drums however this did affect my hearing to my vocals, i could't hear myself so i had to take one ear out so i could hear myself. I also found that the drums were very loud maybe thats just because i am not used to performing with drums.

Towards the end of the set when i was waiting to Alex and Will to end the song i was just standing awkwardly waiting, that is something i need to work on i need to make myself not look bored.

In-conclusion i think the performance went very well i would 100% do it all over again but i would make some improvements.

Through out the whole rehearsal process i collaborated with different people, i made sure i was on time to rehearsals and that i also listened and practiced in my own time each song to make sure that i fully remembered each lyric.

Some things i need to work on next year:

  • Move around the stage more, i will achieve this by communicating with the production team by giving my concern of the XLR cable being stuck to the floor.

  •  When playing guitar i would like to be able to stand up and play and not sit on a stool even though it made a good change from the rest of the performance i felt that sitting down made me seem boring and lazy maybe even some people couldn't see me.

  • I found that throughout the whole performance i did't look very happy and excited i need to look happy to be on stage thats something i am going to change and work on next year, maybe it would help if i didi't have what people called depressing songs.
